CLARK, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A vehicle was found stuck in a road construction site in Hamlin County early Sunday morning, leading to citations for a local woman.

At approximately 1 a.m. on June 9th, 2024, a vehicle reportedly bypassed road closure barricades on County Road 438 and 183rd Street. The vehicle subsequently became stuck at the site where a bridge over the railroad used to be. The driver, a 20-year-old woman from Clark, remained in the vehicle overnight.

A sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the scene at around 8 a.m. Upon arrival, the deputy found the vehicle still lodged in the construction area. The driver was cited for Driving without a Driver’s License and Driving on a Closed Road.

The Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents to adhere to road closure signs and to avoid driving through construction zones for their safety and the safety of others.
