MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) John Deere is the world’s leading seller of tractors and crop harvesters.  The company announced over the weekend that it was cutting nearly 300 jobs from their facility in East Moline, Illinois, another 230 employees at a Deere factory in Davenport, Iowa, and an additional 100 production line workers at a facility in Dubuque, Iowa.  All these layoffs are effective beginning on August 30, 2024.

Deere company spokesmen say that the layoffs are due to depressed demand for John Deere products made at those specific facilities.  Deere also announced that it is moving its skid loader and compact truck loaders from their Dubuque, Iowa location to a new factory in Mexico by the end of 2026.

The John Deere corporation made over $10 billion in profits in 2023.
