The Mitchell White 13u Teener baseball team is now 24-11-1 on the season after another very impressive showing on Sunday. Mitchell’s Noah Bennett got the scoring started in the bottom of the first which would jump start the Teeners offense leading to 3 runs. The Teeners bats would stay red hot as they scored four more runs in the bottom of the 2nd then another five runs in the bottom of the third to go on and win the game by the final of 12 to 1. Pitching was key again for the Teeners as Bryson Schlimgen picked up the win going 3 innings and only allowing 1 run on no hits while striking out 3. The Mitchell White 13u Teener baseball team is now 24-11-1 on the season.
The Mitchell Black 14u Teeners are now 10 and 14 on the season after a head to battle at Brandon Valley 13 14u baseball team on Sunday winning by the final of 6 to 4. The Mitchell Black 14u Teeners are now 3-0 vs Brandon Valley at Brandon Valley this season. The Mitchell Black 14u Teeners scored two runs in the top of the first then another two runs in the top of the fourth to grab a 4 to 3 advantage over Brandon Valley. Mitchells Odin Krause drove in the insurance runs needed to put the game on ice for The Mitchell Black 14u Teeners.
The Mitchell Black 14u Teeners were led by Ian Weber who went 1 for 4 at the plate while driving in 2 runs and Jack Massey who also had a hit and an RBI and scored a run. The Mitchell Black 14u Teeners got great pitching again as Matt Haring picked up the win for the Mitchell Black 14u Teeners allowing only 3 runs on 1 hit in his three innings of work. Colin Pickett pitched the final two innings as he allowed a run while striking out 4. The Mitchell Black 14u Teeners 10 and 14 on the season. They are right back on the road on Wednesday as they head to Post 15 14u baseball team for a doubleheader the first game is at 5 pm to be followed by game 2 at 7 pm.
The Platte Killer Tomatoes were looking to right the ship last night at the Tomato Patch as they were hosting the Parkston Mudcats. The Platte Killer Tomatoes wasted no time getting the offense rolling as Platte’s Grant Doom was a one-man wrecking crew both at the plate and on the mount. Doom’s big evening started with single in the fifth scoring a run then driving in another run in the sixth then finally capped off by a home run to right field in the bottom of the eight to give the Platte Killer Tomatoes the 8 to 6 victory. Platte’s Grant Doom picked up the win going the final three inning on the mound only allowing one run on two hits while striking out 10.
The DWU Women’s Volleyball High School Camps are on Tuesday July 23rd and July 24th are for young girls’ volleyball players who will learn basic to advanced technique that feature progressive drills that will improve an individual’s game in attacking so they will be more skilled on their arm swing that also includes footwork and timing. The Setter portion focuses on hand position, follow through, and movement so they will be more skilled at the high school level. The camp instructors are the DWU Head Volleyball Coach Linsay Wilber and her coaches and players.
The girls’ high school volleyball camps are designed for instruction and coaching in and will be given in small groups to help campers master the skills that are covered. The DWU girls’ high school volleyball camps are for girls entering the 8th grade through 12th grade. Check in time is at 9 a.m. Tuesday’s schedule is 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Session two is 12:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. The DWU girls’ high school volleyball camps are $65 per camper and start on Tuesday July 23 that is the advanced hitter and setter camp and the Wednesday July 24th camp is the defensive and passing camp. Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernández is the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby champion after edging out Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr., 14-13, in a dramatic finish at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Hernández hit 14 home runs in the final round to become the first Dodgers player in franchise history and seventh Dominican-born player to win the event. Bobby Witt Jr., needing one more home run to force a swing-off in the final round, launched a deep fly ball to left-center field that came within a couple feet of crossing over the wall. Instead, the ball hit the fence for Witt Jr.’s final out.
