MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Construction is proceeding apace on the new Bradley’s, the successor to The Scoreboard. Once the transition is complete, The Scoreboard building will revert to the City of Mitchell. It will then be torn down to make way for an expansion of the Corn Palace Plaza.
What will go in that space is still up in the air. It could be a splash pool, or a skating rink or more shade for the Plaza or more seating for outdoor events. No final decision has been made as of yet. In addition, the fate of the parking east of The Scoreboard has yet to be determined as well.
In the property transfer, the City of Mitchell received $100,000 from the Mitchell Area Development Corporation which will be used to help defray demolition costs and the transformation of the site.
