MITCHELL, SD (MITCHELLNOW)
Mitchell’s Allison Meyerink adds another championship Title to her young golfing career. Coming off a spectacular senior season where she was the 2024 individual state girls golfing champion she was just heating up. Monday, she shined again down the stretch on the back nine in the SDGA | Sanford Golf Series at the Minnehaha CC (Sioux Falls). Allison Meyerinks birdie on the 14th hole would seal the victory and the championship as she carded a +1 74 to win the title. The SDGA | Sanford Golf Series is a series of events for older junior golfers who are looking to make an impact on their high school teams and to prepare them to play golf at the collegiate level. High school players (class of 2024, 2025, and 2026 have priority).
Just like all season the championship would come down to the two best girls golfers in the state of South Dakota for the SDGA Sanford Series Championship; unfortunately for Aberdeen’s Olivia Braun, it had the same final difference: coming up one stroke short. Oliva Braun was three strokes ahead of Allison Meyerink with five holes to play, but down the stretch, she came up short. She would bogey 14, 15, 17 & 18 with a birdie on 16. Coming up one stroke behind Mitchell’s Allison Meyerink. Meyerink defeated Braun during the state AA championship back on June the 4th in Yankton by one stroke and did it again on Monday from Sioux Falls. Allison Meyerink was steady on the final five holes, netting a birdie on the par four 14th hole and would par the final four holes en route to the championship. Mitchells Maddie Childs finished fourth with a +4 77 and Ava Eliason shot a 96 and finished 12th.
