The Mitchell 16u teener baseball team was at home yesterday competing in a doubleheader. The Mitchell 16u teener baseball team was facing a familiar foe in the Brandon Valley 16u baseball team. The Mitchell 16u teener baseball team won a close game vs the Brandon Valley 16u baseball team earlier in the month 9 to 7.
The Mitchell 16u teener baseball team scored early and often scoring 4 runs in the 2nd inning thanks to Carter Mc Cormick one RBI Day and he scored five runs. He also finished the game going 3 for 3 at the plate. Mitchell’s Jaxon Hartman then followed suit with 2 RBI’s going 1 for 4 at the plate as well scoring a run. The Mitchell 16u teener baseball team would close out the Brandon Valley 16u baseball team winning by the final of 13 to 3. Quinton Wilson picked up the win for the Mitchell 16u teener baseball team going 4 innings allowing no runs on one hit while fanning 2.
While coaching at Mitchell Christian for the last two years as the cross country and track and field coach, Chase led his cross-country team to a second-place finish at state, broke seven school records, achieved 70 top-ten marks in the school’s history and coached an athlete to three individual state titles.
The 2024 DWU Football putt and shoot fundraiser is on Friday July 26th with a 10 a.m. Trap Shoot session at the Mitchell Gun Club. That will be followed by a 1:00 p.m. golf outing at Wild Oak Golf Course. The cost of the DWU Football shoot and putt fundraiser is $250 for one team =2 people. $100 for golf only with one participant or $400 for two teams. The District 5B amateur baseball bracket has been released. The tournament starts Thursday, July 25 in Parkston and continues until Friday, Aug. 2. There will be six teams that qualify for the Class B state amateur baseball tournament, which is Aug. 7-18 in Mitchell.

No. 1 Winner/Colome vs. No. 8 Parkston Devil Rays, 8 p.m., Thursday.
No. 3 Platte vs. No. 6 Corsica-Stickney, 6 p.m., Friday.
No. 2 Alexandria vs. No. 7 Parkston Mudcats, 8 p.m., Friday
The DWU Men’s youth boys individual Basketball Camps is on Friday and Saturday July 30th and 31st and are for youth boys’ basketball players who will learn basic to advanced technique that feature progressive drills that will improve an individual’s game so they will be more skilled at basketball. The camp instructors are the DWU Men’s basketball coaches and players. The youth boys’ basketball camps are designed for instruction and coaching and will be given in small groups to help campers master the skills that are covered. There be a focus on basketball fundamentals and competitions throughout the day. The DWU boys’ basketball camps are for boys in kindergarten through 8th grade. Check in time is at 12:45 p.m. Friday and Saturday’s schedule is 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The DWU boys’ youth basketball camp is $40 per camper.
