What a great evening it was last night in Parkston at the Pond in the Semifinals amateur baseball games in the 5B District tournament. The first game on tap featured the 14-9 Dimock Emery Raptors vs the Winner Colome Pheasants. It was all Winner Colome Pheasants as they Jumped out to an eight to nothing lead and would go on and win this game by the final of 9 to 4.

The Winner Colome Pheasants starting pitcher Derek Graesser was in full command going all nine innings and only allowed four runs on six hits while striking out 10. The Pheasants Dillon Lambley had a monster game at the plate going 3 for 5 while scoring three runs and driving in two runs. The Winner Colome Pheasants will be in the championship game of the 5B District tournament on Friday night on KOOL 98.3 FM staring at 8 pm.

The second game on tap featured two amateur baseball teams familiar with the 5B District tournament game as you had the Platte Killer Tomatoes taking on the Alexandria Angels. This was an epic battle between two Sunshine amateur baseball foes as this game turned out to be a see saw battle that went back and forth.

The 5B District tournament continued last night between Sunshine amateur League baseball rivals the Platte Killer Tomatoes and the Alexandria Angels last night in Parkston. The Killer Tomatoes Michael Buitenbos was the hero driving in the go ahead run late in the top of the nineth as the Killer Tomatoes would go on and win this game by the final of 10 to 8.

This was game between two pitchers who would try to out duel each other and the first pitcher to blink was the Angels Riley Mc Sherry he gave a up multiple hits to the Killer Tomatoes Hunter Hewitt and just like that it was 7 to 3 Platte Killer Tomatoes. The Platte Killer Tomatoes would go on and win this game vs the Alexandria Angels last night in Parkston by the final of 10 to 8. The Killer Tomatoes Sheldon Gant was a one-man wrecking crew going 2 for 4 at the plate with a home run and he scored two runs while picking up 2 RBI’s. The Killer Tomatoes Grant Doom was stella on the mound going nine innings allowing 10 hits while striking out 11. The Platte Killer Tomatoes will be in the championship game of the 5B District tournament on Friday night on KOOL 98.3 FM staring at 8 pm.

The DWU Men’s youth boys individual Basketball Camps is on Tuesday and Wednesday July 30th and 31st and are for youth boys’ basketball players who will learn basic to advanced technique that feature progressive drills that will improve an individual’s game so they will be more skilled at basketball. The camp instructors are the DWU Men’s basketball coaches and players. The youth boys’ basketball camps are designed for instruction and coaching and will be given in small groups to help campers master the skills that are covered. There be a focus on basketball fundamentals and competitions throughout the day. The DWU boys’ basketball camps are for boys in kindergarten through 8th grade. The check-in time is at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday’s schedule is 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The DWU boys’ youth basketball camp is $40 for k-4th per camper and $50 for 5th-8th. The Mitchell High School Wrestling Camp is on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday August 5th, 6th and 7th. The Mitchell Youth Wrestling Camp will offer wrestling instructions to students in grades Kindergarten-6th grade. Campers can expect to participate in fundamental wrestling drills, learn wrestling techniques, and play wrestling specific games. The Mitchell High School Wrestling Camp is for both boys and girls and the cost is $54 and the start times are the same on all days. Session 1 is for k-2nd grades and starts at 3:00pm and ends at 4:45pm. Session 2 is for 3rd-6th starts at 5:00pm and ends at 6:45pm. Mitchell High School Wrestling Camp is at MHS Wrestling Room or Main Gym Campers should bring a T-shirt, shorts, a water bottle, and wrestling shoes (campers can participate in socks also) InstructorsJagger Tyler, Lane Miller, and Baker Haar. Please be aware the MHS Wrestling Room and Main Gym is NOT air-conditioned. Please make sure you bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during camp.
