The Kimble White Nationals are now the 3B District champions as the beat the upstart Burke Bombers by the final of 3 to 1 thanks to stella pitching from Caden Lenz who went 8 innings only allowing one run on seven hits while striking out 2. The Kimball/White Lake held off Burke for the District 3B amateur baseball championship on Wednesday. Both teams will advance to the Class B state amateur baseball tournament on Aug. 7-18 in Mitchell.

KWL’s Dylan Konechne, Dylanger Pierson and Hudson Heath all had hits. Caden Lenz drove in two runs, while Heath drove in a run. Caden Lenz allowed seven hits, one earned run, two walks and struck out two batters in seven innings. Burke’s Ben Witt had two of the team’s four hits. Sawyer Tietgen, Hunter Van Niewenhuyse, Coy Determan, Gannon Thomas and Kade Braun each had hits. Determan struck out nine batters, allowed three hits, one earned run and walked three batters in six innings.

The Mount Vernon Mustangs have cashed their ticket to the State Tournament winning last night over the Alexandria Angels by the final of 10 to3 as Bradley Dean collected three hits as Mount Vernon topped Alexandria and advanced to the Class B state amateur baseball tournament on Wednesday.

Bradley Dean finished 3-for-5 and smacked a two-run homer in the third inning. Spencer Neugebauer and Deric Denning had two hits apiece. Denning knocked in two runs, while Neugebauer drove in a run. Walker Hultgren, Eric Giblin and Cameron Deinert each drove in runs.  Mount Vernon’s Luke Tiesler earned the win, striking out four batters, surrendering eight hits, two earned runs and three walks in eight innings.

For Alexandria, Michael Schoettmer hammered a solo home run and finished with two hits. Cole Wenande had two hits. Peyton Smith also drove in a run. Jerrod Zens, Tyson Gau and Jacob Giles added hits. Giles took the loss, allowing five hits, three earned runs, two walks and struck out three batters in three innings.

The streaking Corsica Stickney Horned Frogs are headed back to the state tournament thanks to a big win over the Dimock Emery Raptors by the final of 11 to 9 as Corsica advanced to its first Class B state amateur baseball tournament since 2019 on Wednesday.

Corsica’s Logan Bakker and Kiefer Johnson had three hits apiece, while each drove in a run. Caleb Crist and Brendan Wentland both had two hits and an RBI apiece. Blake Moke, Aaron Groeneweg and Brady Christoffels each drove in runs. Christoffels struck out four batters, allowed 11 hits, five earned runs and three walks in five innings.

For Dimock-Emery, Peyton Nash, Jason Schmidt, Sam Pischke and Colton Plagmann had two hits apiece. Drew Kitchens and Doug Sudbeck both drove in runs. Phil Johnson drove in two runs. Landon Waddell struck out eight batters, allowed 12 hits, eight earned runs and walked four batters in 6.2 innings

The DWU Men’s youth boys individual Basketball Camps are for youth boys’ basketball players who will learn basic to advanced technique that feature progressive drills that will improve an individual’s game so they will be more skilled at basketball. The camp instructors are the DWU Men’s basketball coaches and players. The youth boys’ basketball camps are designed for instruction and coaching and will be given in small groups to help campers master the skills that are covered. There be a focus on basketball fundamentals and competitions throughout the day. The DWU boys’ basketball camps are for boys in kindergarten through 8th grade. The check-in time is at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday’s schedule is 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The DWU boys’ youth basketball camp is $40 for k-4th per camper and $50 for 5th-8th. The Mitchell High School Wrestling Camp is on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday August 5th, 6th and 7th. The Mitchell Youth Wrestling Camp will offer wrestling instructions to students in grades Kindergarten-6th grade. Campers can expect to participate in fundamental wrestling drills, learn wrestling techniques, and play wrestling specific games. The Mitchell High School Wrestling Camp is for both boys and girls and the cost is $54 and the start times are the same on all days. Session 1 is for k-2nd grades and starts at 3:00pm and ends at 4:45pm. Session 2 is for 3rd-6th starts at 5:00pm and ends at 6:45pm. Mitchell High School Wrestling Camp is at MHS Wrestling Room or Main Gym Campers should bring a T-shirt, shorts, a water bottle, and wrestling shoes (campers can participate in socks also) InstructorsJagger Tyler, Lane Miller, and Baker Haar. The Mitchell Aces are now 10-4 on the season after a tough loss in Yankton vs the Tappers 12 to 4 as Kade Sudbeck struck out eight batters as Yankton defeated Mitchell in Class A district baseball action on Wednesday. Sudbeck allowed six hits, four earned runs and issued zero walks through seven innings. Drew Ryken and Mitch Gullickson had two hits and two RBI apiece. Josh Sheldon drove in two runs.

For Mitchell, Karter Sibson had a team-high two hits. Lincoln Bates drove in three runs, while Peyton Mandel drove in a run. Mandel took the loss, allowing five earned runs, six hits, one walk and struck out four batters in four innings.

The SDGA Junior Championships continued yesterday at @ The Bluffs GC (Vermillion, SD) with the two best girl’s junior golfers going head-to-head as Olivia Braun will look to hold of the Mitchell Kernels girl’s golfer Allison Meyerink who won this last week and Oliva Braun fell one stroke short of winning the SDGA Sanford Title from Minnehaha CC in Sioux Falls (against Meyerink). Allison Meyerink also defeated Braun by one stroke to win the SDHSAA “AA” title in Yankton back in early June.

The Championship came down to the wire as Oliva Braun barley won the title over the Mitchell Kernels girls golfer Allison Meyerink. Allison Meyerink shot a 74, 74, and an 82 for the tournament and finished second. Congratulations to the Mitchell Kernels girl’s golfer Allison Meyerink on a spectacular golfing season.
