The Twins bats experienced a brief power outage at Tropicana Field on Tuesday night which may have been some foreshadowing for the Minnesota Twins’ bats as the Tampa Bay Rays took the second game of a four-game series, 2-1. Twins starter David Festa put in another solid start but was dealt the loss, the second straight game he’s pitched well without the offense doing much to support him.
David Festa went five innings, allowing two runs, five hits, a walk and striking out seven. In Festa’s last eight games, he has a 3.13 ERA in 37.1 innings of work while striking out 50. He entered Tuesday’s game with the sixth-best strikeout percentage in the league (minimum 30 innings) since that stretch of outings began on July 24. The only offense for Minnesota came in the top half of the second inning, as Carlos Santana hit his 19th homer of the season to left to give the Twins an early 1-0 lead. The Rays would hold on and win by the final of 2 to 1.
