MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Most Davison County residents will vote at the Davison County Fairgrounds.  Residents of Mount Vernon will vote at the Mount Vernon Senior Center and those who live in Ethan will vote at the Ethan Municipal Finance Office.

On the ballot today is the race for president between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

The race for Congress features the Democratic challenger Sheryl Johnson facing off against Republican incumbent Dusty Johnson.

The people running for the Legislature in District 20 are unopposed.

There are seven measures on the ballot for South Dakota voters to decide on:

Amendment E would replace male pronouns in the South Dakota Constitution with the titles of the office referred to.  For example, instead of saying “He has the power to veto bills…” the verbiage would be “The Governor has the power to veto bills…”

Amendment F would allow South Dakota to impose a work requirement on those on Medicaid.

Amendment G would expand the circumstances in which women could seek an abortion beyond the only exception that currently exists in South Dakota law – the life of the mother.

Amendment H would create a non-partisan jungle primary where everyone runs in the same primary, with the ability to choose their party affiliation (if any) and the top two would then face off in the general election even though they may both be of the same political party.

Referred Law 21 is the voter referral of Senate Bill 201, the so called “Landowner Bill of Rights”, having to do with the carbon capture pipeline.

Initiated Measure 28 would remove the sales tax on anything for “human consumption”.

Initiated Measure 29 would legalize recreational marijuana.

The polls open at 7am and close at 7pm.
