HURON S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The 109th Annual South Dakota Farmers’ Union Conference in Huron is on Wednesday and Thursday this week (December 11-12, 2024). South Dakota Farmers’ Union President Doug Sombke says that the conference will discuss local control, eminent domain, property rights, property taxes, the carbon capture pipeline, competition in livestock packing (or, more accurately, the lack thereof). One of the speakers scheduled is Eric Snodgrass who will talk about the impact of weather on agriculture as well as the potential impact of climate change on farming.
There will be a panel discussion featuring David Owen, President of the South Dakota Chamber of Commerce, Karl Adam, President of the South Dakota Bankers’ Association and lobbyist Matt Krogman for the South Dakota Realtors Association. President Sombke will address the convention on the second day of the convention as will National Farmers’ Union President Rob Larew.
