Mitchell
The Mitchell Marlins hockey teams both had successful weekends. After the girls victory Saturday over Rushmore, they were able to get another victory and go 2-1 on the weekend against the Thunder in their three games. Winning yesterday, 13-7. Two goals were scored by McKenna Tronnes, four from Reese Amick, Livaya Mimmack with two, Karlie Konfrst with one, Lyla Morrison with one, Hailey Bottolfson with one and two from Tristen Zimmer. The boys swept all four of their games over the weekend, beating them all by at least two goals. Numbers from the weekend include Parker Denne with seven goals and seven assists to lead Mitchell. Followed by Everett Morrison with seven goals and one assist, Brody Huls posted four goals and five assists & Paxton Denne scored four goals and four assists. The girls won’t return to action until Saturday, Jan. 4 vs Watertown here at home in Mitchell for the “Pink the Rink” event. The boys will also return at that event and day when they play Brandon Valley.
The Kernel boys and girls wrestling teams are set to compete this afternoon on the road. Each team will compete against the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles at Central High School beginning at 2:30pm.
The Kernel basketball teams are back on the hardwood tonight. It’ll start with the girls who will play Sisseton at 6pm for their only game in the Hoop City Classic. The boys will play following the girls game and take on Orlando Christian Prep (FL) at 7:30pm.
Dakota Wesleyan
The Tiger basketball teams both saw game action yesterday. The No. 17 ranked Tiger women’s basketball team had their final exhibition as they faced the NCAA Division l North Dakota State Bison, nearly pulling the upset. They trailed by just four at half, but the Bison escaped with a 64-55 win. For the men, it was another 20+ point performance from Sam Aslesen as he led DWU with 29 points. The Tigers defeated the Jamestown Jimmies, 78-69 and have now won five games in a row and seven of their last eight. Next, both teams will face Concordia on Thursday, Jan. 2 in the World’s Only Corn Palace with the women at 6 and men at 7:45pm.

A seven-game slate in the NBA tonight. It’ll be the Chicago Bulls at the Charlotte Hornets and the New York Knicks at the Washington Wizards on NBATV, both games start at 6pm. At 7pm, it’s the Los Angeles Clippers at the New Orleans Pelicans. Next, the Denver Nuggets are at the Utah Jazz beginning at 8pm. Ending the day with three 9pm starts. The Cleveland Cavaliers at the Golden State Warriors, the Philadelphia 76ers at the Portland Trail Blazers and the Dallas Mavericks at the Sacramento Kings on NBATV.

Your Minnesota Vikings emerged victorious yesterday when they hosted the Green Bay Packers. They came away with a 27-25 win at home. Next, they’ll play the Detroit Lions in week 18 and the winner will be the number one seed in the NFC. Tonight is Monday Night Football in the NFL. You’ll have the Lions at the San Francisco 49ers on ABC/ESPN at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA.
