The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SD-DOT) and local agencies will implement these restrictions this week to prevent road damage caused by saturated ground from melting snow and thawing temperatures.

MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Spring weight restrictions are returning to South Dakota’s roadways. The state Department of Transportation and local agencies are scheduled to enact spring weight restrictions this week. SD-DOT says they’ll be in place to protect roads as thawing and melting snow saturate softened ground, causing roadbeds to be more susceptible to damage. Mitchell Plans Second Fire Station to Speed Up Response Times
