PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A group of South Dakotans are protesting government cuts that could impact the Department of Veterans Affairs. Indivisible 605 organized the protest near the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls on Friday. The group called for more support for veterans while speaking out against the recent large-scale reductions to programs by the Trump administration. The VA responded to the protest over the weekend, saying the efforts to reform the department have been needed for years. The statement added only less than one percent of the VA’s workforce has been laid off, discrediting any of the claims that the layoffs are causing issues across the department.
