PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The South Dakota Supreme Court has unanimously sided with seven federal civilian employees of the U.S. Air Force in a landmark decision. The employees, who were legally entitled to 15 days of paid military leave, were denied that benefit while serving on active duty with the South Dakota Air National Guard. In its Thursday opinion, the state’s highest court ruled against the South Dakota Department of the Military and the commanding officer of the South Dakota Air and Army National Guard for withholding the leave.
