MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) South Dakota doctors are pushing back on President Trump’s recent claim that taking Tylenol during pregnancy can cause autism. Dr. Jeremy Cauwels, Chief Medical Officer at Sanford Health, says large studies, including one in Sweden that tracked more than two million children, found no link between acetaminophen and autism or ADHD. Experts with Avera Health and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists agree, saying acetaminophen is safe when used as directed. They add that untreated fever or pain during pregnancy can actually be more harmful than the medication itself.
