MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — A beloved Mitchell holiday tradition lit up Main Street this December as the community celebrated its annual Christmas parade, themed “Classic Christmas Characters” for 2025.
More than 50 parade entries brought seasonal favorites to life, including the Grinch, Frosty the Snowman and characters from “Home Alone.” Last year’s parade also featured 52 floats, continuing a strong turnout from local businesses, clubs and community groups.
Pre-parade festivities were held at The World’s Only Corn Palace, where “Christmas at the Palace” welcomed families from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. with activities, treats and visits with Santa. Downtown businesses hosted open houses and holiday specials along Main Street, encouraging shoppers to support local retailers during the holiday season.
The parade moved through downtown Mitchell, offering residents and visitors a festive start to December and showcasing the community’s continuing holiday spirit.
To everyone who created a float, attended the parade, volunteered, or supported the celebration in any way—thank you for helping keep this tradition bright.
And we want to see the night through your eyes!
