Mitchell Compost Drop-Off Site to Close for the Season on Dec. 12

The City of Mitchell announced that its compost drop-off site on West 8th Avenue will close for the season on Dec. 12, 2025. Residents may continue taking compost to the Regional Landfill at no charge.

MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The City of Mitchell says its Compost Drop-Off Site at 1405 West 8th Avenue will close for the season on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025.

Residents may continue taking compost to the City of Mitchell Regional Landfill free of charge. The landfill is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

City officials said anyone with questions may call 605-995-8465 for more information.
