MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Two individuals were taken to a local hospital following a rollover crash Monday morning on Interstate 29 in Hamlin County, according to Northeast Radio SD News. The crash occurred at approximately 8:41 a.m. near Mile Marker 169 in the southbound lanes.

Preliminary information from the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office indicates the vehicle had been traveling northbound when it left the roadway, entered the median, rolled and came to rest on its side in the southbound lanes. The severity of the occupants’ injuries was not immediately released.

Southbound traffic was briefly disrupted as emergency crews responded. The Castlewood Fire Department, Castlewood Ambulance, Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol secured the scene, while Performance Towing removed the vehicle from the roadway.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
