MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The City of Mitchell announced that garbage and recycling collection schedules will shift by one day during the week of Memorial Day.
Due to the observance of the holiday on Monday, May 25, 2026, all garbage and recycling routes will be collected one day later than normal. Collection services will run Tuesday, May 26, through Saturday, May 30, 2026.
City officials said recycling pickup will follow the same delayed schedule as garbage collection throughout the holiday week.
The City of Mitchell Regional Landfill also will be closed Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.
Residents are encouraged to place garbage and recycling containers out according to the adjusted schedule to avoid missed pickups.
