MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — A contractor will have two people out on Lake Mitchell starting this weekend doing surveying and preliminary work for the dredging job scheduled for this fall.
Barr Engineering believes most of the tasks can be completed from a boat. Occasionally, the workers will need to pull up to a dock or shore and get out onto private property. The city is alerting homeowners about the work beforehand, so the two employees do not create suspicion.
The employees will be getting a visual assessment of the shore, taking detailed notes, and snapping high-resolution pictures. Some of those pictures will be obtained via drone, which the firm has a permit for from the Federal Aviation Administration.
The surveying is scheduled to start on Sunday and finish up next Wednesday.
