MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — A family farm near Salem is celebrating America’s 250th anniversary with a patriotic twist on its annual corn maze while raising money for the community.
The Streff Family Corn Maze, located at 25133 440th Ave. near Salem, will be open for only two weekends: Sept. 12-13 and Sept. 19-20. Hours are noon to 7 p.m.
The Streff family creates a new corn maze design each year. For 2026, the family chose an America 250 theme, creating a patriotic design that highlights Mount Rushmore.
Visitors should plan on spending approximately 30 to 45 minutes walking through the maze. Organizers recommend wearing comfortable, closed-toe shoes.
There is no formal admission charge. Instead, visitors can make a free-will donation, with all proceeds going to Salem City Park for improvements and amenities that families throughout the community can enjoy.
The Streff family asks visitors to remember that the corn maze is a family-friendly event. Pets are also prohibited, with the exception of service animals.
The maze provides families with a limited opportunity to enjoy a fall outing while supporting a local community project.
