MITCHELL SD (Mitchell Now) On August 6, 2026, we discovered that an unauthorized party impacted a limited portion of our network environment. The event was immediately acted upon thanks to the quick response of our team. Everyone did a wonderful job adapting and proactively addressing the challenges.
Unfortunately, these types of events are an ever-increasing trend by unlawful groups who are finding ways to target businesses and cities nationwide. So, we are not alone in having to deal with something like this.
We engaged both breach counsel and a team of forensic specialists to help us in our response to this event. Thanks to our team’s hard work, we were able to continue our operations with minimal disruption and complete the investigation into the unauthorized activity.
We are happy to report that, thanks to the sophistication of our IT infrastructure, we were able to recover files and operate normally within a short period of time.
Determining what information was impacted took time, and we conducted a thorough review. The investigation found that only a small number of employees were impacted. While there is no indication that any of the impacted data has been maliciously used, all impacted individuals have been notified and received complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection.
