MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) Dakota Wesleyan University has launched “Wesleyan. On Purpose.,” a $40 million fundraising campaign to grow its endowment and support scholarships, employees, academic programs and campus improvements.
DWU President Dan Kittle recently announced the campaign on Wednesday October 14th, describing it as an investment in the university’s long-term future.
“This campaign is a bold commitment to the future of Dakota Wesleyan and to generations of students who have not yet walked through our doors,” Kittle said. “An endowment is a forever gift. When we place resources in an endowment, we are not simply funding something for today. We are creating a source of support that can serve students for generations.”
The campaign has three priorities: expanding annual and endowed scholarships to improve access and affordability; investing in faculty and staff; and supporting strategic programs and campus improvements.
Those investments are intended to strengthen education and provide spaces that support learning, personal and spiritual development, and community gatherings.
Donors can contribute to the university’s general endowment or establish a named endowment.
“Every gift matters. Every person who helps lift DWU up matters. Our goal is ambitious, but I believe it is within our reach. So, together, let’s see what we can accomplish,” Kittle said.
