The bats were working for the Mitchell High baseball team as they opened the 2021 season yesterday with a doubleheader sweep of Yankton by scores of 10-4 and 8-4.
In the first game Dylan Soulek, Parker Bollinger and Jacob Schumacher each had two RBI’s. Ethan Price was the winning pitcher despite Mitchell committing five errors in the game, including three in one inning. Price allowed only one earned run in four innings of work. Seth Muth pitched in relief.
In the second game, Jake Helleloid, Parker Bollinger and Mason Geraets each had two hits. Nick Lord also added a two-run triple. Landon Waddell threw the first 2 2/3 innings allowing two earned runs, and Jace Larson pitched the final four innings giving up only one earned run.
Mitchell is now off until Friday when they will host Pierre in a doubleheader.
