Mitchell Mayor Bob Everson declared Thursday, April 29, 2021 as Tim Smith Day in Mitchell.  Smith has been with KMIT since its inception in 1975.  The 70-year old Minneapolis native is retiring after nearly five decades behind the microphone.

In addition to calling thousands of sporting events on the air, Smith has been a fixture on the KMIT morning show and was co-owner and general manager of the station.  He has been active on many boards and organizations in the community through the years.

Smith and his morning show co-host Renee Robbins were joined in the studio on Thursday morning by Mitchell Mayor Bob Everson, Mitchell City Councilman Kevin McCardle, and Tim’s wife, Sandi.  Special messages were played by Smith’s five children, with Mitchell native and NBA star Mike Miller and Mount Vernon native and NFL star Chad Greenway calling in with congratulatory messages.
