Mitchell Softball

The Kernel softball team took on Yankton on the road yesterday. It was a high-powered offensive game between the two teams – Mitchell posted 15 hits and Yankton had 10. Though the 15 was not enough for the Kernels to get the win and the Gazelles won, 16-13. Mallory Miedema had six RBI’s in the game and was one of two players, along with Emma Hegg, to get three hits in the game. Rylee Jennings got the start for Mitchell and managed nine strikeouts. Mitchell dropped to 1-6 overall following the loss.

Mitchell Golf

The Kernels girls golf team competed in Pierre yesterday at Pierre Hillsview Golf Course. It was another strong outing for Mitchell as they finished in second as a team in Pierre. Four athletes finished in the Top 15. Anna Eliason got 15th place with an 87, Londyn Hajek got 13th place with an 84, Mia Larson got 9th with an 82 and Maddie Childs tied for fourth with a 78. The Kernels will compete again tomorrow in a Varsity Invitational against Aberdeen Central at Aberdeen Lee Park Golf Course at 10am.

Mitchell Baseball

The Kernel baseball team hosted Sioux Falls Lincoln last night in a doubleheader as they looked to get back on track. It was a battle in Mitchell against the Patriots in both games. SF Lincoln managed to claim the first game by a score of 5-4 and then in comeback fashion, Mitchell came back and won the second game 6-5 for a much needed win. The Kernels are now 9-6 overall.

Mitchell Track & Field

The Kernel track & field teams get back to competition tomorrow afternoon. They will remain home and host a Varsity Triangular at the Mitchell High School at Joe Quintal Field. It will begin at 4pm.

DWU Golf

The Tiger women’s golf team wrapped up play in the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships in Dakota Dunes, SD yesterday. As a team, DWU finished in ninth place with a 219 over par total score. The Tigers had two players finish in the Top 30. Dakota Larson got 28th place and had a 44 over par score, while Allison Meyerink had a 14 over par score which helped her claim the individual championship for a second straight season. The win advances her to the NAIA National Championships in Ypsilanti.

DWU Baseball

The Tiger baseball team begins GPAC Conference Postseason Tournament action this afternoon. No. 6 seed Dakota Wesleyan plays No. 3 seed Morningside at Sherman Field in Lincoln, NE at 3pm.

DWU Softball

The Tiger softball team starts GPAC Conference Postseason Tournament action today. The No. 4 seed Dakota Wesleyan will take on No. 5 seed Northwestern at Schilke Fields in Freemont, NE at 2pm.

MLB

The Minnesota Twins played their second game of the series against the Seattle Mariners last night. Minnesota was unable to get the best of the Mariners and fell by a score of 7-1. They’ll close out the series with Seattle this afternoon at 12:40pm on MLBTV.

Some teams have managed to advance to the Conference Semifinals, but some still are still in action. For tonight, it’s Game 5 matchups and you’ll have:
