MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The Mitchell Business Center is, fittingly, now open for business.

Jensen Design Build officials were on hand at 1303 South Ohlman Street for an open house Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Owner Jeremy Jensen was beaming when Mitchell Now caught up to him. Already, two of the units have been sold and another is under lease. Jensen says, “This project is taking off better than we expected.”

He points out that Jensen is capable of more than single-family residential and apartment complexes, which is historically its stock and trade. The business center is essentially a proof-of-concept for the company that it can deliver for commercial and retail customers. Jensen says the highlight of the idea is the flexibility. “If you’re a business in town, or you’re expanding, you’re looking for some information to grow, you have some business idea, and you just need either a storefront or commercial space. We’re available to have those discussions with you, to say, ‘How can we help…as the builder, as the developer, how can we help you get into a new business space?’”

Jensen ran through the extensive amount of grading and dirt work necessary on the property before his company could start to build on it. He believes it was worth it, because of the three most important words in real estate. It all comes down to location, location, location. “We’ve got one of the highest traveled pieces of property in Mitchell, with over 10,000 vehicles a day coming in and off of Interstate 90, coming in and out of Mitchell. The amount of traffic here, it had to be utilized for something big.”
