MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Veteran business owners will have an opportunity to share their experiences with federal officials during two Rural Veteran Small Business Roundtables scheduled in South Dakota this month.

The U.S. Small Business Administration and U.S. Department of Agriculture will host roundtables in Watertown on Thursday, Nov. 5, and Philip on Thursday, Nov. 12. The events recognize National Veterans Small Business Week, observed Nov. 9-13.

Discussions will highlight the role businesses owned by veterans, current service members and military spouses play in rural communities. Veterans will have an opportunity to discuss business ownership and their transition from military service to civilian life.

Officials scheduled to participate include Lisa Shimkat, SBA associate administrator of field operations; Lorraine Polak, South Dakota state director for USDA Rural Development; Roger Chase, South Dakota state executive director for the Farm Service Agency; and Bryson Patterson, SBA district director.

Both roundtables are free and open to the public. Registration is requested.
