MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The eastbound on-ramp at Exit 332 in Mitchell along Interstate 90 will close beginning Tuesday, May 19, as crews begin construction and repair work on the railroad bridge near the ramp.
According to the South Dakota Department of Transportation, the closure will remain in place until Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026.
During the project, motorists seeking eastbound access to I-90 at Exit 332 will follow a signed detour west to Exit 330 before re-entering the interstate using the eastbound on-ramp at that location.
The project includes replacement of bridge approach slabs and joints designed to improve the transition on and off the structure. Crews will also complete berm repairs and pavement improvements aimed at enhancing ride quality and extending the roadway’s lifespan.
Additional work includes applying a polymer chip seal to protect the road surface from moisture and wear, upgrading guardrails to improve roadside safety, and constructing an acceleration lane to help drivers merge more safely into interstate traffic.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution in the construction area and allow extra travel time while the detour remains in effect.
Visit the South Dakota Department of Transportation for updates on this project.
