The South Dakota High School Activities Association Board of Directors meets today in Pierre for the final meeting of the school year. Among items on the agenda, the board is expected to approve Derek Barrios of Elk Point Jefferson to fill a superintendent’s position on the board of directors, and approve a run-off election between Eric Denning of Mt. Vernon and Jeff Kosters of Frederick for the Activities Director position on the board. Craig Cassens and Dr. Jerry Rasmussen are completing their terms on the board of directors.
It will also be the final meeting for Assistant Executive Director John Krogstrand who announced his resignation this winter. It is expected that Randy Soma of Brookings will be approved to fill the assistant director position.
The board will also hear several financial reports, and approve Distinguished Service Awards for the coming year. One of the officials service awards will go to Mitchell’s Sandy Neugebauer, a longtime volleyball official. Sites for state events for the 2024-25 school year will also be approved.
