The Mitchell City Council meets tonight at 6 PM at City Hall in downtown Mitchell.

The agenda includes action to approve an agreement for asbestos remediation at the former Crafty Fox building located on North Main Street in downtown Mitchell. A recent survey showed that asbestos is present in the boiler jacket, pipe insulation, packed pipe fittings, floor tile, and sheet flooring. Quotes from contractors to remove the asbestos were requested, and Horsley Specialties was the lowest bidder at just over $36,000.

Also on the agenda is second reading of an ordinance that would reorganize two city departments. The Golf and Cemetery Department would become a division of the Parks and Recreation Department, with Parks and Rec Director Nathan Powell becoming the head of the Golf and Cemetery Department.

Tonight’s Mitchell City Council meeting is open to the public. It is also streamed online and televised locally. The agenda can be found here: https://www.cityofmitchell.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_08162021-991?html=true.
