MITCHELL — Jaden Haefs rose for a left wing 3-pointer and swished it in as time expired to give Rapid City Stevens a 60-59 win over Mitchell on Friday at the Corn Palace.

Stevens forced a turnover on a Mitchell inbound with 3.5 seconds remaining to get the final shot.

Nate Kindred led Stevens with 21 points, and Haefs finished with 19.

The Kernels trailed for the entire first half until tying it on a Caden Hinker dunk on the final play of the second quarter. The score was 30-30 at halftime. Hinker finished with a team-high 15 points.

Mitchell started the second half on a 5-0 run and led for most of the third and fourth quarters. The loss for Mitchell (11-6) pushed them down to No. 5 in the Seed Points Standings. The Kernels face Rapid City Central on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Corn Palace. Pregame on Pure Oldies 103.5 FM will begin 15 minutes prior to tipoff.
