A federal grand jury has indicted a Sisseton man for first degree murder. 57-year old Jay Adams, Jr. pleaded not guilty to the indictment. He faces a maximum penalty of life in prison. The indictment alleges that on or about September 4, 1992, in Roberts County, Adams killed a minor victim by inflicting fatal blunt force trauma. The investigation is being conducted by the Sisseton-Wahpeton Tribal Police Department and the FBI. Adams was released on conditions pending trial. A trial date has not been set.
