Wild Oak Golf Course is closing, and the Mitchell Republic reports that the course’s adjacent residents are concerned about the effect it could have on property values. Residents living in the housing development neighboring the 18-hole golf course were recently informed through a letter that the owners of Wild Oak are planning to close the course. No timeline was given regarding the course and its closure. A letter that was sent to members of the Wild Oak Homeowner’s Association offered details as to why the Wild Oak owners are closing the course, saying it was losing money on a continuing basis. The letter also states the closure affects Wild Oak homeowners and their property values in a negative way. The newspaper reports that there have been exploratory talks regarding the city possibly purchasing the golf course. Wild Oak is an 18-hole golf course which includes a driving range, putting green, pro shop, bar, and swimming pool. More than 100 homes are situated along the golf course.
