PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Senator John Thune took to the Senate floor to criticize the energy policy of President Biden.  Thune suggested the rush to alternative energy sources was premature and those sources of energy would not satisfy the United States’ energy needs either now or in the future.

Thune says that the energy grid is old and taxed with demand now and that the Biden Administration’s push to alternative energy will starve the grid of power just as the Biden Administration is forcing vehicle manufacturers to electrify their fleets available for sale to the public which will inevitably increase demand on the grid even further.

Senator Thune also vehemently disagrees with the Biden Administration’s decision to ban new oil and gas production in over half the oil and gas national petroleum reserve in Alaska.  Thune says this decision can only increase America’s dependence on foreign sources of energy and weaken our national security.

Thune says he’s not against alternative energy or electric vehicles.  However, Thune advises the country must be realistic about how much power it needs and what sources of energy are truly capable of providing that power to the electric grid.
