The Mitchell 16u teener baseball team has now won three out of their last five games after splitting a doubleheader on Monday at home against Post 8 16u baseball team. Post 8 16u baseball won the first game of the doubleheader winning a close one run game 7 to 6. Despite the loss Mitchell’s Dawson Adams had a great game going four for four at the plate and driving in a run.
Post 8’s Carter Templeton picked up the win for Pierre going four innings and allowing six runs on seven hits while striking out two and walking six. Mitchell’s Jacob Ebert was tabbed with the loss in a close one run affair allowing seven runs on six hits while striking out four and walking three. Mitchell’s Gavin Jones had a nice day at the plate as well in the loss going two for five at the dish while driving in a run and scoring a run for the Mitchell teeners.
The second game of the doubleheader was a high scoring affair in the first two innings as Post 8 got the scoring started in the top of the first scoring five runs on four straight singles. The Mitchell 16u teeners went one run better in the bottom of the second scoring six runs to take a 6 to five lead after two. Post 8’s error in the bottom of the second proved costly as it plated two runs. The Mitchell teeners scored two more runs late for good measure and went on to the win the game by the final of 8 to 7. Mitchell’s Brennen Penne picked up the win in relief of Tyler Christensen going four innings allowing no runs on four hits while fanning five. The Mitchell 16u teener baseball team hits the road for a Friday matchup vs the Aberdeen Smitty’s in a three-day tournament in Sioux Falls.
