MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) Halloween activities scheduled in Mitchell include a costume-optional library program, bilingual storytime and an afternoon of downtown trick-or-treating.

Mitchell Public Library will host Halloween Storytime from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in its community room. The free program will feature stories, songs and crafts. Infants, toddlers, preschoolers and older children are welcome with a parent or caregiver. Children may wear costumes, although costumes are optional.

The library also has Saturday Storytime scheduled from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Oct. 31. That program will include a story in English and Spanish, opportunities to learn words in both languages and a craft. Admission is free.

Later that day, Downtown Trick or Treat is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. along Mitchell’s Main Street between First and Fifth avenues.

The downtown gathering offers families an afternoon Halloween activity, with the library’s Saturday program taking place earlier in the day. Families attending both can plan around the morning storytime and the separate two-hour downtown event.
