The Dimock Emery Raptors were feeling pretty good about their start last night on our Kool 98.3 FM amateur baseball game of the week as they jumped out to a 6-4 lead in the top of the fourth on the road in Alexandria vs the Alexandria Angels. Jason Schimdt picked up where he left off driving in the first two runs of the game and the Raptors had a 2-0 lead. Then Colton Plagman grounded to second base and Jason Schimdt scored on a throwing error and the Raptors were off. The Raptors then proceeded to score the next 6 runs of the game and never looked back.

The Raptors’ Sam Pischke doubled to left field driving in two runs in the top of the 8th giving the Raptors a 12-7 advantage. The Raptors’ 3 spot in the top of the 4th inning was enough to put the game away and the Dimock Emery Raptors went on to win the game by the final of 12 to 7. The Raptors Sam Pischke and Jason Schimdt led the team in RBIs with Jason Schimdt leading the way with five runs batted in.

Phil Johnson was sharp for Dimock on the mound going six innings while only allowing 3 runs on 8 hits while striking out 4. The Angels Jacob Giles took the loss going 5 innings while allowing 10 runs on 10 hits. The Dimock Emery Raptors are now 13-8 while the Alexandria Angels are now 11-3 on the season. The Raptors host the Winner Colome Pheasants on Thursday night at 8 pm.

The Mitchell Aces have now won six games in a row as they won last night at home beating the Parkson Mudcats by the final of 8 to 6. The Mitchell Aces pounded 11 hits as they defeated the Parkston Mudcats in non-league amateur baseball action Tuesday night at Cadwell Park. Colin Stange led the offense with two hits, a double, and two RBIs, Conor Mattke drove in two runs on one hit, Parker Mandel and Lincoln Bates each tallied two hits and an RBI, including two doubles by Bates, Peyton Mandel and Hudson Borgan each drove in a run on one hit, while Carter Miller and Mason Herman each tallied hits in the win.

Peyton Mandel earned the victory on the mound for Mitchell, allowing three runs on one hit and six walks, striking out six. For the Parkston Mudcats, Jeff Harris took the loss in eight innings on the mound, issuing eight runs on 11 hits and a walk, striking out two. Will Jodozi drove in a run on two hits and a walk, Dillon Stadlman drove in two runs on one hit, while Jeff Harris, Ryan McGinnis, and James Boehmer each tallied hits, including a triple by Harris, in the loss.

The DWU Football youth camps are on July 15th and 16th with a 6:30-8:00 p.m. session. The DWU Football youth camps are for grades k- 8th grades and are for grades entering fall of 2024. The cost of The DWU Football youth camps is $30 per participant. The DWU Football youth camps are from 6:30pm- 8:00pm on July 15th for k-4th grades and July 16th for grades 5th-8th grades and includes a T-shirt. The SDGA | Sanford Golf Series is a series of events for older junior golfers who are looking to make an impact on their high school teams and to prepare them to play golf at the collegiate level. High school players (class of 2024, 2025, and 2026 have priority). Several area Mitchell boys’ and girls’ golfers are competing in the series that is being played at eight different golf courses which leads up to the SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP (Top point leaders from other events qualify – 27 boys / 15 girls) Monday, July 22 – Minnehaha CC (Sioux Falls). The Mitchell Kernels will be hosting a volleyball camp on Monday July 15th and Tuesday July 16th at the Mitchell High School main Gym. The Mitchell Kernels volleyball camp features a morning and an afternoon session. The morning session is for 7th-12th grades and is from 9 am till noon and the cost is $70 per player. The afternoon session is for grades 1st through 6th grade and the camp cost is $45 per participant. The Mitchell Kernels volleyball camp will be coached by The Head coach of the Mitchell Kernels Volleyball team Deb Thill and her coaching staff. The Mitchell city golf tournament is the weekend of July 13th and 14th at Lakeview GC. Both rounds of this year’s Mitchell city golf tournament will have two rounds of stroke play taking place at Lakeview GC. Tee times for both days will be from 8 a.m. to noon. For round one on Saturday, parings and tee times will be based on players flights. The competition includes a men’s championship and a handicap flight, a senior division and a women’s division.
