MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A house fire broke out Friday evening at 517 East Second Avenue in Mitchell. Crews arrived to find flames and heavy smoke coming from the back of the home. The fire was contained in about 20 minutes, but it caused significant damage to the kitchen, bathroom, and back porch, along with smoke damage throughout the house. No one was inside at the time, and no injuries were reported. The Mitchell Daily Republic reported a dog was rescued from the home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
