MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Mitchell is facing the big question of how to keep city golf courses, ball fields, and soccer fields green once Lake Mitchell is drawn down for dredging in 2026. Right now, places like Lakeview Golf Course and Cadwell Sports Complex depend on lake water for nightly irrigation. The golf course alone uses about 400,000 gallons a night. City leaders admit they don’t have all the answers yet, but engineers are working on a plan. In the meantime, staff are looking at water-saving options, like cutting back on filling ponds or using chemical treatments. For now, it’s a waiting game as the city figures out how to keep things watered while improving the lake. For more Government stories from MitchellNow.com, Click Here.
