MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Feeding South Dakota is asking state lawmakers for three million dollars to help fill a gap left by lost federal food aid. CEO Lori Dykstra says the nonprofit is already cutting administrative costs but needs help to meet rising demand. Meanwhile, South Dakota Public Broadcasting could lay off up to 20 staff after losing more than two million dollars in federal support. Several state-run assistance programs are also feeling the pinch. SNAP, Medicaid, and TANF are all facing funding changes under new federal rules, with TANF recipients seeing a ten percent cut starting in September. Mitchell Plans Second Fire Station to Speed Up Response Times
