Mitchell Soccer

The Kernel soccer teams are now ready for Class AA State soccer which begins tonight. The girls will take on Pierre T.F. Riggs in Pierre at the PILC Soccer Complex at 5pm. The boys will face Sioux Falls Lincoln at the Sioux Falls Lincoln High School Track & Field Stadium at 7pm.

Mitchell Golf

The Kernel boys golf team is competing in their final day at the State Tournament today. They are out West in Rapid City, SD at Meadowbrook Golf Course. Yesterday, they ended day one in sixth place as a team, tied with Brookings. A couple of athletes sit in the Top 25 including Everett Morrison tied for 21st at six over par and Asher Dannenbring tied for 10th with a four over par score. They will start teeing off today between 9-10am.

DWU Golf

The Tiger men’s and women’s golf teams are both in action again today. They’re playing in Sioux City, IA at Whispering Creek Golf Club for the Mustang Derby. The DWU women are tied for 2nd place heading into day two and the men are in 10th place. The women have three players in the Top 15 and the men have just one. Ashton Austreim is tied for 12th; Allison Meyerink is tied for second and Sara Sudenga is sitting atop the standings in first. While for the men, Peyton Betcher is leading the way for DWU and is tied for fourth. Tee times are listed as TBA on the DWU website for day two, but they should tee off around 10am.

MLB

The Division Series Game 2’s wrapped up last night. It started with a win again from the No. 3 seed Los Angeles Dodgers over the No. 2 seed Philadelphia Phillies, 4-3. The win puts LA ahead in the series, 2-0. Ending the night was a matchup between the No. 4 seed Chicago Cubs and the No. 1 seed Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers maintain control of the series after another win last night, 7-3. They now have a 2-0 series lead.

WNBA

The WNBA Finals Game 3 will take place tomorrow night as the series moves to Phoenix. The No. 4 seed Phoenix Mercury will host the No. 2 seed Las Vegas Aces tomorrow night at 7pm on ESPN at the Mortgage Matchup Center.

NFL

Last night was Monday Night Football between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Jacksonville Jaguars. This is one that came down to the wire and featured some big times players to cap off the week five action! Jacksonville held off a late game push from Kansas City and won the game, 31-28.
