MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The South-Central Alcohol Task Force conducted 16 alcohol compliance checks in the city of Mitchell on Nov. 4, 2025, resulting in one business failing to comply with alcohol sales regulations.

According to the task force, Cubby’s, located at 1700 W. Havens Ave., failed the check when a clerk sold alcohol to a confidential informant without requesting identification. This marks Cubby’s second compliance failure within a 24-month period.

The following establishments successfully passed the compliance checks: County Fair Food & Fuel, Dakota Sunset, M&H, Kwik Phil, Walgreens, Thunderbird Lodge, Circle K, Highland Travel Plaza, Arnie’s First & Foster, Village Bowl / Spare Change Casino I, Village Bowl / Spare Change Casino II, Jokerz Casino I, Bullseyes and Birdies, Platinum Player’s Casino III, and Outback Casino.

Alcohol compliance checks are routinely conducted by the South-Central Alcohol Task Force to ensure that local businesses are following state laws regarding the sale of alcohol to minors.
