MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Sioux Falls Police say one man is in custody and another remains at large after an early Saturday morning robbery at a business near 6th Street and Cleveland Avenue.

Authorities reported the incident occurred around 3 a.m. when two men were seen loitering outside the business for an extended period. According to employee accounts, one of the men entered the store, grabbed a bottle of alcohol and approached the counter while holding a knife in one hand and making a fist with the other.

Police say the man swung his fist at an employee, leading to a struggle. A second employee intervened and tackled the suspect, restraining him while police were called. Officers took 34-year-old Tyrel Redbird into custody when they arrived.

The second man, who was reportedly with Redbird, fled before the confrontation. He is described as an Indigenous male in his mid-30s, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, wearing a black coat, blue jeans and brown boots.

Sioux Falls Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information to contact law enforcement or Crime Stoppers.
