Mitchell Basketball

The Kernel basketball teams return home tomorrow night in Mitchell, SD as they get set to host Sioux Falls Lincoln. It begins with the boys/girls JV at 3:30pm with the boys in the auxiliary gym and girls in the main. Then the sophomore boys/girls will play at 4:45pm with boys in the auxiliary gym and girls in the main. Freshman boys play at 6pm in the auxiliary gym. Varsity teams will end the night with the (RV) Kernels girls playing first at 6pm and then the Kernel boys playing at 7:30pm.

Mitchell Wrestling

The Kernel wrestling teams will get back at it tonight in a Varsity Triangular at Sioux Falls Jefferson high school. Both teams will begin at 5pm.

DWU Track & Field

The Tiger track & field teams are going to be back in action tomorrow. They’re going to be in Seward, NE for the Concordia Classic. Time is listed as TBA currently on the DWU website.

DWU Wrestling

The (RV) Tiger men’s wrestling team and the women’s team will compete against Waldorf in the Battle at Bowman V. It’ll be in Forest City, IA and begin at 6:30pm. Additionally, Olivia Smith for the Tiger women’s wrestling team has earned the Great Plains Athletic Conference Wrestler-of-the-Week after wins in duals against Buena Vista and Morningside. This marks the first ever WOTW honor for DWU women’s wrestling.

DWU Basketball

The Tiger basketball teams faced the Briar Cliff Chargers last night in the Corn Palace. The No. 9 Tiger women were in a back-and-forth battle throughout the night with the No. 19 Chargers and ended up coming away with a 70-61 win. Rylee Rosenquist led DWU with 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Avery Broughton also added 15 points. For the men, they fought throughout the course of the game, but ended up falling short, 92-75. Anthony Riggans led the scoring for the Tigers with 18 points and added seven rebounds. Randy Rosenquist Jr added 16 points and came away with five steals. The Tiger women are now 18-4 overall and 14-2 in the GPAC. The Tiger men fall to 11-11 overall and 6-8 in the GPAC.

SDSU Basketball

The Jackrabbit basketball teams each took on Omaha last night. The women were tied up 14 a piece after one quarter but were off to the races after the slow start and didn’t look back. They won the game, 85-41. Brooklyn Meyer led the way with 18 points (7-for-7 FG) and grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double. SDSU WBB improves to 17-5 overall and 7-1 in the Summit League. For the men, they had a bit more trouble. They led 34-32 at the half but couldn’t slow down Omaha in the second half and ended up losing 80-71. Damon Wilkinson and Kalen Garry combined for 46 points. SDSU MBB drops to 10-12 overall and 3-4 in the Summit League.

NBA

The Minnesota Timberwolves made their way on over to Texas last night to face the Dallas Mavericks. Minnesota took advantage of an undermanned Mavericks team who was of course without Anthony Davis but also did not have Cooper Flagg and defeated them 118-105. Julius Randle led the way with 31 points and Naz Reid added 23 points off the bench. The Timberwolves are now 29-19 overall.
