MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The Mitchell City Council is set to address a wide-ranging agenda during its meeting beginning at 6 p.m., including infrastructure improvements, licensing actions, and proposed ordinance changes.
The meeting will open with recognitions for Thomas Gulledge, honored with the South Dakota Department of Health Partner in Health Award, and Dakota Wesleyan University’s women’s basketball team.
Among key items, council members will consider awarding a bid for the North Ohlman Street project from 23rd Street to Kemper, along with multiple agreements tied to that project, including easements and property purchases.
The council will also hold a public hearing on transferring a retail malt beverage and South Dakota farm wine license for Lakeview Golf and take action on special event permits, including one for the South Dakota Literacy Conference in June.
Additional discussion topics include a proposed amendment related to the Lake Mitchell tornado shelter project and a study agreement concerning flood risk management.
Two ordinance readings are scheduled, including a supplemental appropriation ordinance for fiscal year 2026 and proposed changes to city code affecting indoor amusement licenses and the method of electing City Council officers.
The agenda also includes a discussion on leash law requirements and an executive session for legal consultation.
