MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — What began as a traveling business more than three decades ago has grown into a regional destination event just outside Ethan.
Rustic Designs & More is hosting its annual Spring Country Show through Sunday, May 10, at its rural location at 41450 264th St. The event runs daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and features a wide variety of vendors, handmade goods, and vintage finds.
Owner Martha Huber, who has spent 35 years in the business, said the move from Mitchell to the countryside was driven by a need for more space to expand both inventory and vendor participation. Now in its fifth year at the new location, the show consistently draws hundreds of visitors.
“I wasn’t sure people would come out to the middle of nowhere, but oh boy did they,” Huber said.
The Spring Country Show highlights antiques, outdoor metal art, wrought iron pieces, florals, furniture, and baked goods. Vendors travel from across South Dakota and neighboring states, including Minnesota, Nebraska, and Iowa, creating a unique shopping experience that blends local craftsmanship with regional flair.
The business remains a family operation. Huber’s partner, Bob Brenner, has worked alongside her for more than 20 years, specializing in welding, ironwork, and custom personalized signs. Their combined efforts have helped shape the unique pieces that define the show.
Huber’s daughter, artist Nicole Heitzman, is also a featured contributor. Her work includes paintings, prints, and wood-crafted pieces that are regularly showcased at the event. More of her work can be found at Nicole Heitzman Art.

Rustic Designs & More hosts four seasonal shows each year: spring, summer, fall, and Christmas. Each event draws repeat visitors and new attendees. Many customers who discovered Huber’s work during her traveling years continue to attend, some making the trip from out of state.
With a growing reputation and steady attendance, the Spring Country Show has become a staple event for those seeking unique, handcrafted, and vintage items in a relaxed, rural setting.
