MITCHELL, S.D. (Mitchell Now) — Some Mitchell residents should plan ahead for a temporary water shutoff this week while city crews complete water valve replacement work.

City officials say water service will be turned off Wednesday, May 6, from about 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the South Ohlman and West Havens areas.

The city says the time frame is approximate, and water service could be restored earlier or later depending on how the work progresses.

Residents in the affected area may want to store water ahead of time for drinking, cooking and basic household needs. Officials also recommend avoiding laundry, dishwashing and other water-dependent tasks during the shutoff window.
