MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) – The Palace City Pre-Sturgis Party is returning to downtown Mitchell on Thursday, August 6, 2026, and organizers are excited to announce that the event has received an $8,000 Tourism Advertising Promotion (TAP) Grant to help market and promote this year’s
celebration.
The TAP Grant funding will be used to increase advertising and promotional efforts for the
Palace City Pre-Sturgis Party, helping attract visitors traveling across South Dakota on their way
to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The grant supports efforts to encourage riders and travelers to
stop in Mitchell, experience the community, and enjoy everything the city has to offer.
“This grant is a huge opportunity for us to continue growing the Palace City Pre-Sturgis Party
and bringing more people into Mitchell,” said Keelie Konfrst, CVB Director at the Mitchell
Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We are very thankful for being awarded this funding to help
drive visitation. We want riders to feel welcomed and part of something special when they stop
in Mitchell on their way to Sturgis. Hospitality is such an important part of our community, and
this event is a great way to showcase that.”
As thousands of bikers travel through South Dakota each summer, the Palace City Pre-Sturgis
Party gives Mitchell a chance to showcase its welcoming atmosphere while creating a
memorable experience for both visitors and the local community.
